MY FAITH & FINANCE STORY

Stewardship. Discipline. Servanthood.

At 23 years old, I walked into my marriage with $30,000 worth of debt, no idea what marriage actually looked like, and a sense of entitlement that said I was in charge.  And while I called myself a Christian, you wouldn't have known unless I told you.  Time and time again, God would give me this nudge, telling me I was living my life wrong.  I was handling my finances wrong.  I was positioned in my marriage wrong!  But I ignored Him because I knew better.  Then we hit the seven-year itch, and everything was snatched away from me.  I was left broken and broke.  But I wasn't alone.  During this time, I walked right into God's arms and surrendered.  I read the Bible for the first time in my life and built a relationship with Jesus.  He gave me the vision for my marriage, ministry, and business.  I learned that my life comes from God, who has gifted me with everything.  And it is my responsibility to steward it well.  To be disciplined in my management of it.  And to serve others so they can do the same.

Over ten years later, I am following the path God has planned for me.  We created a plan, paid off over $50,000 in debt, built and sold our home, and continue to maintain and grow our six-figure net worth through savings and investing.  I knew that before I could help anyone else, I needed to take what I had learned in my 20 years of working in finance, connect it with God's plan, and apply it to our lives and home.  Because of that, we were able to successfully live in Hawaii on one income while patiently waiting to welcome our first child, whom we had been waiting 7+ years for.  Then we were able to buy another brand-new home at a low interest rate, even as home prices were rising and interest rates were extremely high.

After getting our life together, the next piece of our story was creating our business to help others.  In 2018, I started Tanisha Rhenae Consulting, which has transitioned into Financial Theologian.  Beginning with a broad focus on helping individuals and business owners manage and organize their lives and businesses, I decided to focus specifically on faith and finances.  As an Accredited Financial Counselor®, I help all types of clients, from those who need emergency resources to six- and seven-figure business owners, teaching them how to create budgets and savings goals and tackle debt.  All from a Biblical perspective.
